MySQL's CURTIME(~) method returns the current time in the UTC time zone.

Parameters

1. fsp | number | optional

The fractional seconds precision, that is the number of digits to use to store microseconds.

This can take the range 0 - 6. Defaults to fsp=0.

String context

To return the current time in UTC:

SELECT UTC_TIME();

Numeric context

To return the current UTC time as a number:

SELECT UTC_TIME() + 0;

Fractional seconds

To specify the fractional seconds precision:

SELECT UTC_TIME(6);
+-----------------+
| UTC_TIME(6) |
+-----------------+
| 13:28:13.719121 |
+-----------------+

We can see that microseconds (part after the .) is returned to 6 digits precision.
