To convert the column type from object or string to datetime, use the pd.to_datetime(~) method.

Example

Consider the following DataFrame:

import pandas as pd
df = pd.DataFrame({"my_date":['2021/12/25', '2021/12/27']})
df
my_date
0 2021/12/25
1 2021/12/27

Here, the data type of the column is object:

my_date object
dtype: object

To convert the column to datetime:

df['my_date'] = pd.to_datetime(df['my_date'])
my_date datetime64[ns]
dtype: object
