To remove a tag as well as its inner content in Beautiful Soup, use the decompose() method.

Example

Consider the following HTML document:

my_html = """
   <div>
      <p>Bob is great</p>
   </div>
"""
soup = BeautifulSoup(my_html)

To delete both the p tag as well as its inner content:

div_tag = soup.find("div")
div_tag.find("p").decompose()
div_tag
<div>
</div>
