MySQL's ASIN(~) method computes the arc sine of the input value.

Parameters

1. X | number

A number in the range -1 to 1.

Return Value

The arc sine of the input number.

Examples

Basic usage

To return the arc sine for 1:

SELECT ASIN(1);
+--------------------+
| ASIN(1) |
+--------------------+
| 1.5707963267948966 |
+--------------------+

To return the arc sine for -0.5:

SELECT ASIN(-0.5);
+---------------------+
| ASIN(-0.5) |
+---------------------+

Invalid input

If we specify an input outside of range -1 to 1:

SELECT ASIN(2);
