Python's dict.values() method returns a view object displaying the values of a dictionary as a list.

NOTE

View objects provide a dynamic view on the dictionary’s entries, which means that when the dictionary changes, the view objects reflect these changes.

Parameters

No parameters.

Return value

A view object displaying the values of the dictionary as a list.

Examples

Basic usage

To return a view object of values of the dictionary scores:

scores = {'Andrew': 77, 'Matt': 80, 'Bob': 90}
scores.values()
dict_values([77, 80, 90])

Dynamic behavior

To check whether the view object reflects the newly added value of 99 added to scores dictionary:

scores = {'Andrew': 77, 'Matt': 80, 'Bob': 90}
print("Original Values: ", scores.values())

scores.update({'Ben': 99})
print("Updated Values: ", scores.values())
Original Values: dict_values([77, 80, 90])
Updated Values: dict_values([77, 80, 90, 99])

Note that the view object reflects the newly added value of 99 for Ben.
