Python's file.readline(~)
method returns one line from the file and leaves a newline character \n
at the end of the string (omitted from the last line of the file).
Parameters
1. size
| number
| optional
The number of bytes from the line to return. Default is to read whole line.
Return value
One line from the file as a string.
Examples
To return the first line of the file as a string:
f = open("test.txt", "r")
# Return the first linef.readline()
'sample line 1\n'
Notice how the newline character \n
is included at the end of the string.
If we call file.readline(~)
consecutively, we will return consecutive lines from the files:
f = open("test.txt", "r")
# Print first line from the fileprint(f.readline())# Print second line from the file print(f.readline())
sample line 1sample line 2
