Pandas Series str.len(~) method returns the length of each string in the Series.

Parameters

This method does not take any parameters.

Return Value

A Series or Index of type int (or float if Series contains NaN).

Examples

Basic usage

To get the length of each string in the Series:

import numpy as np
s = pd.Series(["aaa","a", np.nan])
s.str.len()
0 3.0
1 1.0
2 NaN
dtype: float64
