Counting occurrence of each item in a list
We can use Counter
within the Collections
module to count the occurrences of each item in a sequence.
To count occurrences of each item in my_list
:
from collections import Countermy_list = ['a', 'b', 'b', 'c', 'c','c']occurrences = Counter(my_list)print(occurrences)
Counter({'c': 3, 'b': 2, 'a': 1})
We can see that 'c'
appears 3 times, 'b'
appears 2 times and 'a'
appears once in my_list
.
